This space has not been forgotten.  I vow that tomorrow (or the next day) food will reign again!
Thanks for stopping by everyone.  I'll start updating again.
In the meantime please enjoy this.

I have seen the future, and it is blowfish shabu shabu.
Shabu shabu is where you dip vegetables and meat in a hot pot and then eat them with different sauces.  I love this meal, because it includes three or four parts-- first the meat, then the vegetables, then you add noodles to the broth for a rich noodle soup, and finally they bring you some rice to make rice porridge.  I love the shabu shabu process, but can never get the flavors just right...until now.

First you take a piece of fish and swish it around in the broth.

Then eat!

The taste is mild but delicious.

Hello blog, good to see you again.
A short list of what has been happening these past few weeks--

1. Our computer broke down.  Now we have one on loan from Janice, so we have the precious internet back.
2. There was a nice visit from Janice.  Lots of eating and merriment.
3. We have been packing boxes and shipping things home.

I haven't completely given up on this blog, but these next few weeks will be very busy.  This weekend is Lunar New Year, which means we have some time off.  I predict lots of packing and cleaning (and maybe some really good french fries).
I'm going to try to squeeze in a few more entries before we leave.  Photos next time!

It figures that we are about to leave, and I just found my new favorite restaurant. Ah, that's Korea for you.
So here's the deal with this place, and why I'm currently obsessed--

First you choose your tea from six different varieties [varie-teas]. Yes, I did just make a dad joke.
Then they bring out complimentary dumplings while you decide on your entrees. Shrimp dumplings make life worth living.

You have a choice of two different entree items and one rice or noodle dish. That meant between the two of us we had six different options. I love the Chinese food philosophy of the ying and the yang of eating-- choosing hot and cold dishes, alternating spicy and bland.

Wonton soup- shrimp wontons in a light broth

Ah ha! They brought out more dumplings!

Grilled tuna served cold with a light red pepper vinaigrette. Succulent tuna!

A steamed pumpkin filled with seafood and covered with a light cream sauce.

Stir-fried vegetables with puffs of tofu and crab.

Spinach fried rice and shrimp fried rice. Traditionally the rice dishes are served after the main courses.

Lemon sorbet for dessert. There are about six different desserts to choose from.

Yes, I am honestly obsessed with this place. Immediately after we finished our meal, I was already planning and daydreaming about our next visit [what to try next, what to get again, ways to optimize our choices]. I have a menu that I'm using to keep track of and rate the different choices.

Rating-- 4 mailboxes [This is the stuff of dreams!!]

Last Sunday I spent the day with some of my old high school students. They are all so grown up and are headed off to college soon.

My kids. Left to right-- Jiwon, Young, Min, Tae Joon, Sun Kyu, Junsoo, Se Young, Keun Woo, Jun Young, Tae Keun, Yun Gu, Mr. Butterson, Jamie, and Bo Kyung. Whew! It was wonderful to see them all!!

The King of Bingsu- its actual name.
We ordered 3 of these and polished them off. All in all a fabulous day!!
